Are buses available in Puerto Vallarta? How much?
Yes, Puerto Vallarta has a reliable and affordable public bus system. Buses run frequently throughout the city and to nearby areas, including Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías, and Mismaloya. Local bus fares are 10 MXN, and you’ll need to pay in cash with exact change. Each bus route is assigned a number, and most buses have signs in the windshield indicating many of their destinations. While some buses are newer and air-conditioned, others are older models without A/C.
To find bus routes in the Google Map app, enter your destination in the search bar and tap the “Directions” button. Then, select the transit icon, which looks like a bus, to view available routes with estimated times and stops.
We do not recommend taking the bus to or from the airport with rollerbag luggage, as buses are often crowded and may only have standing room available.
Here are the bus fares from Puerto Vallarta to various destinations: Sayulita (65 pesos), Bucerías (30 pesos), Boca de Tomatlán (10 pesos), and the Vallarta Botanical Gardens (50 pesos).
