Podcast: Do-Gooders Making a Difference in Puerto Vallarta
Host Barry Kesler welcomes two extraordinary volunteers to The Puerto Vallarta Travel Show who are making significant impacts in Puerto Vallarta’s community. Kim Easter from Tampa, Florida, and Dale Boyotti from Canada share their inspiring stories of giving back through various charitable organizations and grassroots initiatives.
Kim volunteers at RISE orphanage and helps with Angel’s Kitchen, which feeds 75-100 people weekly at the gazebo across from City Hall every Wednesday at 11 a.m. (expanding to weekly service starting December 3rd). Dale’s volunteer work spans multiple organizations, including visits to the Regional Hospital where she delivers gift bags to new mothers, the Copanoli Senior Center, and schools in remote areas like Nogalito.
The episode highlights their current diaper drive initiative at Nacho Daddy, collecting diapers for families in need. Donations benefit RISE, Angel the Libertad, Vallarta Cares, and other local organizations. The show emphasizes that ongoing donations are welcome year-round.
Both women share practical advice for visitors: explore beyond tourist areas, engage with locals, and discover authentic neighborhood experiences. They recommend various local restaurants and hidden gems, from Un Cafe and Tiki Bar to Eugenie’s at Grand Miramar.
Barry also covers upcoming events, including Puerto Vallarta’s 12-day celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe (December 1-12) and the city’s 174th anniversary on December 12th, featuring processions, traditional dances, and festive celebrations.
