Artist Spotlight: Montse ๐ค ๐ ๐ญ
Montse is an artist who has been immersed in the arts since birth. She was born and raised in Mexico City until the age of 13, when she moved to Puerto Vallarta. Her passion for music runs deep, as she is the granddaughter of the renowned Mexican musician Raรบl Dรญaz, known as “El Mago del Salterio.” Although they never met, their connection through music remains strong.
Montse’s love for dancing, singing, and acting has always been a central part of her life. She participated in every school production and show available. Although she briefly stepped away from the arts to meet familial expectations, she eventually returned to Mexico City after studying Interior Architecture. It was there that she realized she needed to follow her true passion. Struggling with depression and anxiety, she decided to leave college and pursue her dreams through dance, singing, and acting. She began preparing herself with lessons and courses.
In 2019, Montse seized a significant opportunity by joining the ensemble of the Mexican production “Distroller El Miusikul,” where she learned six different roles in a show based on the characters from the Mexican brand Distroller. However, the pandemic caused a pause in her career. Upon returning to Puerto Vallarta, she saw an audition notice for ActPV Theater and began to immerse herself in the local artistic community.
Montse’s first season with ActPV Theater was as Lucy Van Pelt in “You Are a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” a role that had a profound impact on her life. In the following season, she was cast as Janet in “The Rocky Horror Show” and also performed in “Divas: The Concert Experience,” where she danced and sang as Lady Gaga, as well as served as a backup dancer for other artists.
This is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting career for Montse.
