Sam Davalos, a jazz drummer, educator, producer, and band leader, hails from Mexico City and has made significant contributions to the jazz community both nationally and internationally. He began his musical journey at the tender age of 11, studying under private teachers who laid the foundation for his future in jazz. His formal education continued at the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA), where he honed his craft before further refining his skills under the tutelage of renowned musicians such as Duncan Moore, Juan Ale Saenz, and Enrique Nativitas.

Throughout his career, Sam has shared the stage with some of the most respected names in jazz, including Pete Nater, Dan Reagan, Stephen O’Connor, Steve York, Stephen Golberd, David Valdez, Cristian Mendoza, Diego Franco, and Alex Guardiola. His performances have graced the best jazz venues in Mexico, such as Zinc, Casa Franca, and Jazzatlán, earning him recognition as a versatile and accomplished drummer.

In 2024, Sam is set to release his highly anticipated debut album, “Bopin’ in Bucerías,” featuring his organ trio. This project showcases the talents of Diego Franco, Cristian Mendoza, and Marc Fabricatore, further solidifying Sam’s position as a key figure in the jazz scene.

Now residing in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Sam continues to be a driving force in the local music community. He regularly performs at premier venues, including Cuates y Cuetes, Dóberman Bar, The Solar, and El Andamio. His unwavering dedication to his craft has made him a pillar in the Puerto Vallarta jazz scene and a respected reference point for jazz enthusiasts across Mexico.
