Unlike the gig-oriented schedules of her past, the pre-arranged season of weekly shows at Act2PV demands an intensive focus on promotion and audience engagement. “The pressure to focus almost 80% of my time and budget on advertising and promotion is much more intense,” Delilah shared.
In a competitive landscape brimming with exceptional performances, Beaucoup takes a hands-on approach to connect with diverse audiences. “Artists must appeal to different types of tourists, locals, snowbirds, and expats. One of the ways I promote is by singing a few songs in other popular venues, probably four nights a week. I dress up, chat with folks, and invite them to come to my weekly shows,” she explains. “I also spend a lot more time on Facebook promotion, Vallarta Calendar, and singing songs before other shows at Act2 throughout the week. All in an effort to promote my show and the theater. It really takes 100% dedication from the artist. No one else will do it for you.” This dedication to outreach and connection reflects her determination to thrive in an environment where success is never guaranteed.
Delilah’s journey to becoming a headliner in Puerto Vallarta showcases her resilience and creativity. After initially being told that a jazz show wouldn’t succeed in the city, she proved her skeptics wrong with sold-out performances of A Night of Jazz in 2023. Now entering her third season, Delilah has reimagined the show to honor Pink Martini, one of her greatest inspirations, as she continues to push the boundaries of what a jazz show can offer.
