A Night Where Broadway, Symphony, and Soul Rise for a Cause
Puerto Vallarta is no stranger to live music, but on Sunday, February 22, the city will witness something truly extraordinary. International headliner and former Broadway principal Kevin Anthony will present Kevin Anthony: Elevated—a one-night-only concert that merges Broadway storytelling, symphonic grandeur, and local musical soul, all in service of a powerful mission.
More than a concert, Elevated is a celebration of artistry with purpose. For this special evening, Kevin Anthony will be joined on stage by 44 talented musicians, the Orquesta Sinfónica Vallarta, Vallarta’s beloved Roxsand Band, and special guest performers from the local and international community. Together, they will create a musical experience unlike anything previously staged in Puerto Vallarta—one that not only entertains, but uplifts.
At the heart of the evening lies a cause close to Kevin Anthony’s heart: raising funds for the Vallarta School for Girls, an organization dedicated to education, empowerment, and opportunity for young women in the region.
A Life Shaped by Storytelling
Kevin Anthony’s career spans more than five decades and over 28 countries, yet when asked about the moments that shaped him most profoundly, he doesn’t begin with accolades or prestigious venues. Instead, he recalls his earliest days as a Broadway performer.
“The one that truly transformed everything for me,” he says, “was my opening night in Miss Saigon during the First National Production in Chicago.”
At the time, he was part of the ensemble—what he refers to as a “pink contract”—and he vividly remembers repeating a simple mantra before stepping on stage: Be the best ensemble member you can be.
“My focus was not on becoming a star,” he explains. “It was about contributing to a compelling narrative through song.”
That philosophy would guide him throughout his career, even as he transitioned into principal roles and leading performances. “Whether I was in the chorus or the spotlight,” he says, “my goal was always to excel. I’ve never chased fame. I’ve aimed to use my gifts to tell stories and, hopefully, make a positive impact on someone’s life.”
That same ethos is woven into Kevin Anthony: Elevated, where storytelling remains at the core of every note.

A Musical First for Puerto Vallarta
What makes Elevated truly groundbreaking is its scope. The fusion of Broadway vocals, a full symphony orchestra, and a seasoned local band is not something audiences in Puerto Vallarta have experienced before—and that was exactly the point.
“It had never been done before here,” Kevin Anthony says. “I wanted to blend what I’ve cherished throughout my life—an orchestra and a band—to create something truly special.”
His connection to the Roxsand Band runs deep. “We’ve performed together for nine years,” he explains. “We’re a musical family. We understand each other perfectly, and I know I can rely on them to support me if I stumble.”
The addition of the Orquesta Sinfónica Vallarta elevates the sound to another level entirely. “I can’t think of any singer who wouldn’t seize the chance to perform alongside an orchestra,” he says. “The beauty and sophistication of orchestral sound is unmatched. I adore the lushness it adds, gently complementing the vocals.”
The result is a seamless blend of intimacy and grandeur—soulful, theatrical, and cinematic all at once.
Rooted in Community
Though a proud New Yorker, Kevin Anthony now calls Puerto Vallarta home, and his respect for the local artistic community is evident throughout Elevated.
“Puerto Vallarta has become a vibrant entertainment capital in Mexico,” he says. “You can discover every imaginable genre here. It’s a true melting pot of creativity.”
That diversity has shaped the direction of the show and inspired him to invite special guest performers to join him on stage, including Effie Passero, Kim Kuzma, Diego Guerrero, and others.
“As artists, we’re like a family,” he says. “We love, we argue, but ultimately we share the same mission—to deliver the finest entertainment possible.”

Art with a Conscience
While Elevated promises musical excellence, its deeper purpose lies beyond the stage lights. The concert serves as a fundraiser for the Vallarta School for Girls, an organization Kevin Anthony supports not only as an artist, but as an advisory board member.
“My parents were very clear with us growing up,” he shares. “You don’t merely exist in a community. You give back. No exceptions.”
That belief is rooted in his upbringing. Both of his parents were educators, and they instilled in him the idea that education is transformative. “They taught us that education is the key to freedom,” he says. “It’s a powerful catalyst for change.”
For Kevin Anthony, supporting young women through education isn’t abstract—it’s deeply personal. “My goal is to help empower these remarkable young women to transform not only their lives, but the lives of their families.”
The Power of Connection
Known for his emotional depth and soul-driven performances, Kevin Anthony describes himself not first as a singer, but as a storyteller.
“When you find the right balance between story and singing,” he says, “you can truly resonate with your audience.”
Over the years, his focus has shifted from technical perfection to human connection. “Being on stage is an opportunity to communicate, to reach out, and hopefully inspire positive change.”
Music, he believes, carries responsibility. “My mother used to say I should be an evangelist,” he recalls with a smile. “And I’d say, ‘I am—just to a different flock.’”
What he hopes audiences take with them after Elevated is simple yet profound. “Pure joy,” he says. “In those 60 to 90 minutes, I want them to feel not only my joy, but their own.”
Elevated, Defined
At this stage of his life and career, the word elevated carries deep meaning for Kevin Anthony.
“To me, ‘Elevated’ stands for art with a conscience,” he says.
That means giving back through creativity, encouraging generosity, and building community around compassion and empowerment. “This,” he says plainly, “is me—as an artist and as a person.”
On February 22, audiences will gather at Teatro Vallarta, located at Calle Perú 1105-C in the Cinco de Diciembre neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta, not just to witness a concert, but to experience a culmination of five decades of artistry, collaboration, and purpose—an evening where Broadway brilliance, symphonic splendor, and local soul rise together in support of a life-changing cause.
