A No-Time-For-Siesta Day!
I did the unthinkable yesterday – I left my phone at home and went to two events. I have a single piece of evidence that I went to the lively Gay Mixer up a million steps through Casa Cupula to Villa Sevilla next door. Publisher of Out and About Puerto Vallarta Magazine, Jerry Jones, and I always take at least one pic of us at these weekly bashes around town, which he sponsors, so I am grateful to him for sending the lone photo.
Well over 200 gay men scattered themselves over the expansive terraces of Villa Sevilla, well-oiled by 80 bottles of tequila – reposado and añejo – liberally provided by Ron Morgan Properties. The waiters, identified by the backside of their hot pink Speedos, smiled and offered lime wedges and a smidgen of salt with the well-received tequila. I met so many new and extremely interesting people, including Sacha Cantor, of Hyden Furniture. Sacha, a fellow Canadian from Montreal, was gracious enough to answer many of my questions about his fledgling business. He has an event coming up at his workshop on April 9. More on that as the date gets closer.
Next stop was Nacho Daddy for the last Open Mic of the season. I rode down the hill with beautiful Venezuelan Alejandro Arraez and his partner, Dr. Craig Beach, who is also a Canadian from Ontario. Both of them are fine singers and joined the long list of those wanting to take part in the last show of the year. Gouda Gabor slipped out early to run (well….) up the street to join Mark Hartman at his last show at Act2, leaving Captain Lydia Damato to introduce the balance of the singers. I will be seeing her again today at Bingo.
My dear friend and trusted herbalist, Ricardo Mazcal, is offering many of his concoctions at discounted prices all summer long. The products will change weekly, and to kick things off, the remarkable tincture Chilcoatl is 20% off until his Weekend Market on the Isla Cuale, open from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. If I listed everything that this tincture can help with, my word count would be insufficient. If you want to learn more about it, go to Ricardo Mazcal’s page on Facebook and read all about Chilcoatl, its history, and how the US government nearly rendered it extinct. Ricardo has Chicoatl in his pocket like other people carry their keys. He is literally never without it!
Starting at 12:30 today, Qulture will host our monthly Scrabble Tournament…wish me luck with that. Then, at 4 pm today, Nacho Daddy hosts the bingo fundraiser for Colina Spay & Neuter Clinic. Lydia Damato will be calling balls, then at 6 pm, sharp, the two of us will be running over to Coco Cabaret for the ”We Are Puerto Vallarta” Awards. We are both nominated in different categories. El Granero is live-streaming the event and throwing an after-party, so you won’t miss a thing as seating at Coco is reserved for all the nominees. A full report on all the winners in the morning, From Here.
