Grito de Independencia (Cry of Independence)
Join Puerto Vallarta’s Mexican Independence Day festivities at the Presidencia Municipal on September 15 at 11:00 PM for the traditional Grito de Independencia. This historic ritual commemorates the night in 1810 when Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla rang the church bell in Dolores, calling Mexicans to rise for independence from Spain. Today, leaders reenact the Grito, shouting patriotic phrases like “¡Viva México!” while citizens cheer, wave flags, and celebrate national pride.
The event culminates in spectacular fireworks over the city, honoring Mexico’s rich history, culture, and unity in a joyous and unforgettable display of patriotism.
