Founded in 1985, the International Friendship Club (IFC) began as a social club for Americans and Canadians in Puerto Vallarta. However, when members Celia and Ron Walker met a family in need of surgery for their child’s cleft palate, the club’s purpose expanded. Their efforts led to the creation of the IFC’s flagship Cleft Palate Program, which continues to bring surgeons to Puerto Vallarta for life-changing surgeries every few months.
The IFC operates as a non-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to medical, educational, and humanitarian support across Jalisco. Programs like the Cleft Palate Program are funded through the club’s well-known Home Tours, generously hosted by local homeowners. Members enjoy a blend of social events and charitable work, creating friendships while giving back to the community.
To sustain its programs, the IFC welcomes new members and volunteers eager to make a difference. For those interested in joining a group that blends friendship with purpose, the IFC is a wonderful way to support those in need.
