Artist Spotlight: Jacob Ordoñez 🎹
Jacob Ordoñez is a distinguished Mexican musician who has made Puerto Vallarta his home in recent years. The city’s unique cultural environment has inspired him to explore various musical genres and new ways to express himself through the guitar. Additionally, he has been developing his vocal skills under the mentorship of David Sabella.
Jacob’s musical journey began at UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México), where he trained as a classical guitarist. During his time there, he participated in numerous guitar competitions, performed in recitals across the country, and appeared as a soloist in orchestral concerts.
In Puerto Vallarta, Jacob co-founded Dúo Xochiquetzal with his partner Isabel Zuleta, an eclectic duo with a Latin soul. Together, they perform their own interpretations of diverse music genres, captivating audiences throughout the city.
Education is another of Jacob’s passions, especially teaching music to children and toddlers. Over the years, he has taught many young students, both in schools and privately. His teaching work in Puerto Vallarta not only nurtures the next generation of musicians but also keeps him creatively active and inspired.
Jacob’s artistic work is deeply intertwined with Mexican music. He has contributed significantly to various premiere projects, participated in the first recordings of works by contemporary Mexican composers, and helped promote contemporary Latin music in Mexico.
