Madonna Reimagined: Waleska Brings the Queen of Pop to Life
Every Sunday night at 9 PM, in the heart of Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone, Coco Cabaret transforms into a high-energy celebration of one of pop music’s most enduring icons. The Madonna Tribute Concert, starring Waleska, is now in its third season—and it continues to raise the bar for tribute productions in Puerto Vallarta.
This is not a simple impersonation show. It is a fully realized musical concert featuring live vocals, original musical arrangements, dynamic choreography, and visual storytelling that traces the remarkable career of Madonna Louise Ciccone—the Italian-American singer who dominated global charts throughout the 1980s and 1990s and remains a cultural force decades later.
At the center of it all is Waleska, a singer, dancer, and performer whose passion, energy, and personal connection to the role have made the show a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
A Performer Raised on Rhythm
Waleska was born and raised in Maracaibo, Venezuela, a place where music and movement are woven into everyday life. From childhood, she was immersed in rhythm—learning salsa and merengue, participating in school dance groups, singing in choirs, and performing as both a dancer and backup vocalist in traditional musical styles.
Her first experience on stage came at just eight years old, singing with her school choir during a Mother’s Day celebration. That early exposure sparked a lifelong love of performance. As a teenager, she was cast in a local youth television show as a dancer and host, an opportunity that helped her overcome stage fright, build confidence, and learn how to connect with an audience through both movement and presence.
Training, Growth, and Professional Beginnings
Determined to pursue a career in the arts, Waleska continued developing her skills through formal training. She studied vocals at Entre Voces from ages 18 to 22 under vocal coach José Ángel García, while also training professionally as a dancer with respected Venezuelan companies led by Gerdis Zambrano and Rider Pereira.
By her early twenties, she was already performing professionally as part of a musical group that combined singing and dancing. Although that chapter was cut short due to the difficult situation in Venezuela at the time, the experience solidified her identity as a multidisciplinary performer and prepared her for the next stage of her career.
Ten years ago, Waleska relocated to Puerto Vallarta, where she found both stability and opportunity. The city’s vibrant entertainment scene and international audience allowed her to continue doing what she loves—performing at a high level while growing artistically.

Performing for Puerto Vallarta Audiences
Puerto Vallarta audiences, Waleska says, are both supportive and demanding. That balance has shaped her approach to performance. “Here, you have to give everything,” she explains. “The audience expects excellence. But when they love what you do, they show it with so much warmth.”
Those moments—when the crowd claps along, sings, dances, and ultimately rises for a standing ovation—are what she treasures most. “When everyone stands up at the end to clap,” she says, “I just think, ‘Thank you, God.’”
Stepping Into Madonna’s World
Although Waleska is now widely associated with Madonna in Puerto Vallarta, she didn’t grow up as a devoted fan. Born in the late 1980s, she was more influenced by 1990s pop artists like Shakira, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Pink. Madonna was a legend she respected, but not one she fully understood—at least not at first.
That changed completely once she began preparing for the tribute.
Portraying Madonna on stage forced Waleska to study not just the music, but the mindset of an artist who continuously reinvented herself. Madonna’s ability to sing, dance, act, provoke, and adapt—while maintaining unwavering confidence—became a source of inspiration.
Before each performance, Waleska reminds herself that Madonna, too, started young and inexperienced. That thought gives her the confidence to step onstage, honor Madonna’s legacy, and deliver a performance worthy of her fans.
A Show That Keeps Evolving
Now in its third season, the Madonna Tribute Concert has undergone significant evolution. According to Waleska, this season features a noticeable upgrade in production, including enhanced stage design, visuals, and costumes.
New songs from Madonna’s 1980s catalog have been added, while audience favorites like “Vogue,” “Frozen,” and “Girl Gone Wild” remain key moments in the show. The result is a production that feels both familiar and fresh.
“Those who have seen us before can really notice the difference,” Waleska says. “They’ve been very happy with the changes. And for first-time audiences, the show is truly impressive. Fortunately, we are having a great season.”

Music With Meaning
While the show spans multiple eras of Madonna’s career, the 1980s remain central. Two songs in particular hold special meaning for Waleska: “Express Yourself” and “Papa Don’t Preach.”
One empowers her with its message and energy. The other resonates deeply with her personal life story, allowing her to connect emotionally with the material. That authenticity is felt by audiences and adds depth to the performance beyond choreography and spectacle.
Musically, the show aligns closely with Waleska’s strengths as an artist. Ballads, pop, and pop-rock dominate the repertoire, giving her space to showcase both vocal power and emotional nuance while maintaining the high-energy pacing Madonna fans expect.
Production, Choreography, and Venue
A major part of the show’s impact comes from its choreography, led by the Starboys, whose precision and presence elevate the visual experience. The production is helmed by Chris Lopez, whose vision has helped shape the concert into a polished, cohesive, and professional production.
The setting plays an equally important role. Coco Cabaret represents the next evolution of cabaret entertainment in Puerto Vallarta, drawing on more than 26 years of experience while introducing a modern, state-of-the-art venue. With three LED video screens, soaring ceilings, advanced lighting and sound systems, and a stylish mezzanine balcony, the space enhances every aspect of the show.
Comfortable seating, signature cocktails, and The Palm’s reputation for friendly, welcoming staff complete the experience, making Coco Cabaret a destination in its own right.
What Audiences Take Away
At its heart, the Madonna Tribute Concert is about enjoyment and escape. Waleska hopes audiences leave having disconnected from daily stress, even if just for a moment, and reconnected with the music and memories of Madonna’s golden era.
Feeling the love from the audience and knowing they leave happy is what matters most to her. It’s what keeps her returning to the stage week after week—and what keeps audiences coming back season after season.
The Madonna Tribute Concert starring Waleska plays every Sunday at 9 PM at Coco Cabaret in Puerto Vallarta.
