Artist Spotlight: Sargento


Sargento was born and raised in Mexico’s north. His love for performing emerged at a young age, with his first foray into the world of entertainment occurring during a kindergarten singing contest.

In 2012, Sargento moved to Jalisco, a state renowned for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant artistic scene, first to Guadalajara, then Puerto Vallarta. By 14, he had developed a fervent obsession with Broadway, a passion shaping his future endeavors. His teenage years were spent immersing himself in the world of musical theater, participating in various school productions, like “The Lion King,” “Aladdin,” “Que Plantón,” “The Fantastiks,” “Disney Ensemble,” and more.

Sargento’s first appeared in front of Vallarta audiences at Nacho Daddy during the preliminary auditions for the third annual RISE talent competition. His hard work and diligent coaching made him the first runner-up; many doors opened, fueling his ambitions and driving him to seek new opportunities.

One of his career highlights is his ongoing Sargento Broadway Sing-Along at Garbo’s Piano Bar, accompanied by uber-talented Bing Young. This dynamic and fun show combines his love for Broadway with his infectious stage presence.

Looking ahead, Sargento is set to be featured in the Best of Broadway show for 2024-25, which celebrates the finest in musical theater, at Act2PV, Vallarta’s largest entertainment complex. Another highlight, “The Mentiras Experience” at Casa Karma, was an innovative production accompanied by Maestro Salvatore Rodriguez on piano.

Sargento’s performances have been described as exaggerated, funny, bold, and full of heart. His unique ability to blend humor with emotional depth in two languages makes each performance memorable.

Sargento’s work is supported by his coaches, Jan Dorland and Rob Burton.
