Artist Spotlight: Shannon Maracle

Shannon Maracle began her musical journey in the acclaimed theatre production Mama, I Want to Sing, launching a career that has spanned genres, stages, and continents. She soon embarked on her solo path, collaborating with pianist and composer Washington Savage to create original arrangements of jazz standards and popular music, later performing in cabaret clubs, on television, and at major festivals across Canada.

As co-founder and lead vocalist of the groundbreaking blue groove/funk/rock group Blaxäm, Shannon shared stages with icons such as Al Green, Maceo Parker, and Roy Ayers, and released the album Kiss My Afro.

Known as one of Toronto’s most innovative and expressive vocalists, Shannon’s style has drawn comparisons to Nina Simone and Rachelle Ferrell. Her distinctive phrasing and emotional depth create what producer Eddie Bullen describes as “a journey of vocal sightseeing that leaves you on the edge of your seat.”

In 2024, Shannon began performing in Puerto Vallarta, where she has since become a beloved presence in the city’s thriving live music scene. Performing regularly at La Catrina Cantina and The Social Club, she continues to captivate audiences with her soulful blend of jazz, funk, and heartfelt storytelling.

Whether on international stages or intimate Vallarta venues, Shannon Maracle delivers performances filled with passion, authenticity, and the spirit of a true artist devoted to the transformative power of music.
