A Night of Glamour, Generosity, and Hope for Women in Need
Puerto Vallarta’s spirit of generosity and community will be on full display on Tuesday, January 20 at 6 PM, when the second annual An Evening of Stars for WIN (Women in Need) takes place at the stunning oceanfront Casa Karma. This elegant fundraising event brings together top-tier entertainment, community support, and a shared mission—to raise essential funds for Casa Esperanza Women’s Shelter, which provides safety and vital resources to women and children escaping domestic violence.
Known for its vibrant arts scene and strong sense of compassion, Puerto Vallarta has long rallied behind causes that uplift and protect its most vulnerable residents. An Evening of Stars is a powerful example of that collective spirit, made possible this year with the support of presenting sponsor Stan Wagner of Puerto Vallarta Neurofeedback. Following a sold-out debut last year, the event returns bigger and brighter, embracing this year’s theme: “An Evening of Stars With a Silver Lining.”
A Star-Studded Night of Entertainment
At its heart, An Evening of Stars is a celebration of talent, generosity, and hope. Guests will be treated to an unforgettable night of live performances by four of Puerto Vallarta’s most beloved entertainers, all of whom are donating their time and talents in support of the cause.
The evening will be hosted by the incomparable Amy Armstrong, a powerhouse vocalist known for her sharp wit, commanding stage presence, and emotional depth. A long-time favorite in Vallarta’s entertainment scene, Amy’s career has taken her from Chicago’s LGBTQ+ community to stages around the world, including international cruises and major events, where she consistently connects with audiences through humor, authenticity, and heart.
Joining her is the glamorous and comedic icon Gouda Gabor, whose quick wit, charm, and musical flair have delighted audiences across Mexico and Canada. From intimate cabaret venues to massive crowds, Gouda brings classic cabaret to life with sparkle, warmth, and unmistakable style.
Also returning is Sargento Dan, a rising star who first captured attention in Puerto Vallarta’s RISE talent competition. With a deep love for Broadway and musical theater, his performances are heartfelt, entertaining, and infused with natural charisma, earning him a rapidly growing following.
Rounding out the lineup is the extraordinary Ada Vox—a powerhouse vocalist, songwriter, and drag sensation who made history on American Idol and later gained international acclaim as a runner-up on Queen of the Universe. With a voice capable of moving effortlessly from Broadway classics to rock anthems, Ada delivers performances that are both breathtaking and unforgettable.
As event coordinator Joanne Jacobs explains, “Not only will you be in the company of four of Vallarta’s top entertainers, you’ll enjoy yourself doubly by knowing your ticket price goes directly toward aiding in the fight against domestic violence.”
An Elevated Experience With a Silver Touch
While last year’s Evening of Stars embraced the festive spirit of a Mexican-themed celebration, this year’s event offers a more refined and glamorous experience. Set against the ocean at Casa Karma, guests will enjoy the performances as the sun dips below the horizon, creating a stunning natural backdrop that transitions seamlessly into an evening of silver elegance.
Attendees will enjoy elegant hors d’oeuvres served throughout the night on silver platters, allowing guests to mingle freely, sip cocktails, and immerse themselves in the atmosphere. A silent auction and raffle will run alongside the entertainment, offering guests additional ways to support Casa Esperanza while competing for exciting items and experiences.
“There are also a few glittery surprises planned throughout the evening,” Joanne shares. “They’ll be very much in keeping with this year’s theme—An Evening of Stars With a Silver Lining.”
Guests should note that there is no parking at Casa Karma. The venue is easily accessible by Uber, taxi, InDriver, or public bus from downtown Puerto Vallarta, making transportation convenient and stress-free.
Why This Event Matters
Beyond the glamour and entertainment, An Evening of Stars plays a critical role in sustaining the work of Casa Esperanza Women’s Shelter, a lifeline for women and children escaping domestic violence in Puerto Vallarta.
Casa Esperanza provides a safe, confidential environment for up to seven families at a time. Residents receive far more than shelter—they are supported with comprehensive services that include social work for both mothers and children, educational support, legal assistance, and 24-hour nursing care. These resources are essential in helping families heal from trauma and begin rebuilding their lives with dignity and independence.
While the shelter does receive government funding, it typically covers only 30 to 50 percent of operational costs. The remaining funds must be raised through donations and fundraising events.
“The money raised at last year’s Evening of Stars went directly to maintaining essential services,” Joanne explains. “That includes social workers, a teacher, a lawyer, and round-the-clock nursing care. Without community support, those services simply wouldn’t be possible.”
A Community Effort
The response to the second annual Evening of Stars has been overwhelmingly positive. Local businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and community members have once again stepped forward to support the event, with ticket sales already reaching approximately 60 percent capacity well ahead of the January date.
“We couldn’t do this without our volunteer group and our small but mighty committee,” Joanne says. “The generosity of the Puerto Vallarta community continues to amaze us year after year.”
