A Special Birthday and Ricky Martin
Today is Angeloo’s 13th Birthday, an important milestone that abruptly propels Vallarta’s prodigy from childhood into adulthood, whether he wants to go there or not. If you don’t know, Angeloo has been accepted to try out for ”America’s Got Talent,” and the only thing keeping him from Los Angeles is money and his visa, which has been applied for. If you can, please donate something and make his Birthday truly memorable – you can help Angel and his dad get to LA by donating here: buymeacoffee.com/angeloo2025
From your early days at Incanto, we have watched you grow, quite literally, and have loved you and encouraged you every time you have performed. You are already, like a fine wine that only improves with age. Happy Birthday, querido Angel Covarrubias!
If you are looking for a high-energy show packed with Greatest Hits and explosive sound, splashed with colors so bright that the dancers meld right into the background videos shown on three enormous screens, and choreography that will leave you breathless, then scurry over to Coco Cabaret next Sunday, April 5, at 7 pm.
A full house on Opening Night, including a packed balcony, raised the energy levels for ”Come With Me,” eliciting the finest performances from all involved. The Starboy and Stargirl dancers, who appear in every Chris Lopez Production that requires dancers, were in top form, including Waleska, who is a joy to watch, super precise, and did not hold back, even given that her demanding tribute to Madonna started half an hour after the Ricky Martin Tribute concluded!
I lost count of the costume changes, and I must say, they were done so quickly that I imagine there is an army backstage getting ready to dress eight dancers and the principal, Alex, who not only had to learn an extensive songbook but also created all the choreography!
Towards the end of this very colorful spectacular, the stage filled to overflowing with a handful of drag queens in their finest outfits, biggest hair, and highest heels, to add just a tad more splash and pizzazz.
Producer (and director, actor, and singer) Chris Lopez has done it again. Taken an idea, a personage, and developed a show combining so many elements: music, dancing, lights, stage settings, mind-bending videos, costumes, and accessories (boots, high-topped sneakers, bare feet; pearl necklace, on or off?) and made every element work like some amazing machine. And everybody LOVES Chris (including me!). Possibly that’s his secret – and complete devotion to his craft, to whatever hat he is wearing at the time; I have said this a dozen times at least and will repeat it: If a show has a ‘Chris Lopez Production’ tag on it, just go. It doesn’t matter if you know the singer or any of the songs being sung, I guarantee you will be a fan by the end of the show.
You are a genius, my lovely friend Chris Lopez. Keep on dazzling and shining your brightest light. Everyone fortunate enough to work with you is already better at what they do, From Here.
