The Stars Align for Casa Esperanza Women’s Shelter
On February 20 at 6 PM, Puerto Vallarta will come alive with an unforgettable evening of entertainment, generosity, and community spirit at An Evening of Stars for WIN (Women in Need). Hosted at Mucho Fiesta, located in Vallarta’s hotel zone at Francisco Medina Ascencio 1929, this fundraising event promises a night of incredible performances, delicious food, and the opportunity to support an essential cause: Casa Esperanza Women’s Shelter.
Attendees of An Evening of Stars are in for a magical night under the stars, filled with laughter, music, and camaraderie. This event brings together an impressive lineup of entertainers who are generously donating their time and talents for the cause. The evening will be hosted by the incomparable Amy Armstrong, with performances by the fabulous Gouda Gabor, Sargento Dan, and Ada Vox.
Amy Armstrong is well known in Puerto Vallarta’s entertainment scene for her powerhouse vocals, razor-sharp wit, and captivating stage presence. From Chicago’s LGBTQ+ community to performing on global gay cruises, Amy’s career is marked by her dedication to uplifting audiences with her humor and heart.

Gouda Gabor, the glamorous and comedic icon, has entertained audiences in both Mexico and Canada, shaking her maracas everywhere from intimate cabarets to massive crowds of 50,000. Known for her wit, charm, and musical prowess, Gouda brings classic cabaret to life like no other.
Sargento Dan, a rising star in Puerto Vallarta, first captured attention in the RISE talent competition. His deep love for Broadway and musical theater translates into dazzling performances that are heartfelt, humorous, and full of charisma.
And then, there’s Ada Vox—a powerhouse vocalist, songwriter, and drag sensation who made history on American Idol and later as a runner-up on Queen of the Universe. With a voice that can take on anything from Broadway hits to rock anthems, Ada’s performances are breathtaking and unforgettable.

This event is more than an evening of entertainment—it’s a vital fundraiser for Casa Esperanza Women’s Shelter, which provides safety, support, and resources for women and children escaping domestic violence.
Casa Esperanza offers shelter to up to seven families at a time, providing them with a secure environment, counseling, healthcare, education, and social services to help them rebuild their lives. Although the shelter receives partial funding from a government grant, these funds are neither guaranteed nor sufficient to meet the rising costs of operation. The remainder of the budget is covered by donations and fundraising events like An Evening of Stars.
Joanne Jacobs, the event coordinator, is passionate about this cause and works closely with the shelter. “I have a heart for the victims of domestic violence, and I volunteer at the shelter. I also attend any fundraisers that I can that support them,” she shares. “This year, there is one less fundraiser than in previous years, so we knew we had to step up. Coordinating events like this allows me and all of the people on our small but mighty committee to give something back to those in need—to women in need… to WIN.”
Attendees will not only enjoy a night of world-class entertainment but also delicious tacos and Mexican appetizers, which are included in the ticket price. A cash bar will be available to keep the drinks flowing. Additionally, guests will have the chance to participate in a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle, with proceeds directly benefiting Casa Esperanza.
The shops of Mucho Fiesta will be open during the event, offering 10-20% discounts, making it a great opportunity to shop while supporting the cause.
Tickets are available for purchase at Casandra Shaw, Nacho Daddy, or online at Eventbrite.
Casa Esperanza’s mission is not only to provide safety but also to equip women and children with the tools they need to start new lives free from abuse. However, the demand for their services far exceeds their capacity. “There is never a time when we have empty rooms,” Joanne explains. “The need for shelters like ours is great, but resources are limited. With the rising cost of living, our monthly expenses continue to increase.”

Donations of money, essential items, and volunteer time are always appreciated. Items such as kitchen utensils, toiletries, clothing, luggage, linens, and small appliances help women transition into their new homes once they leave the shelter. Financial contributions remain the most urgent need, as government funding only covers approximately one-third of Casa Esperanza’s operational costs.
By attending An Evening of Stars, you are directly contributing to the safety and well-being of women and children in Puerto Vallarta who need a fresh start. Whether through ticket purchases, auction participation, donations, or spreading the word, every contribution makes a difference.
For those interested in sponsorship opportunities, the event is currently supported by Puerto Vallarta Neurofeedback, Puerto Vallarta Owner’s Reps, and BCCTV, with additional sponsorships welcomed. Businesses and individuals looking to contribute can reach out to Joanne Jacobs by email at sandjjacobs330@gmail.com for more details.
Mark your calendars and gather your friends for a night of laughter, music, and generosity. An Evening of Stars is a unique opportunity to enjoy top-tier entertainment while making a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.
Let’s come together as a community to support Casa Esperanza and help women and children build brighter, safer futures. We hope to see you there!
